Chapter 1 is concerned with questions of integrating energy-saving, resource friendly and health-oriented approaches to building into the planning and decision-making processes. Methodical approaches to determining and evaluating energy and mass flow during the life-cycle of buildings are discussed, a framework for energy-related limit and target values examined and available planning aids and assessment tools analysed. In chapter 2 a system for ensuring quality control in the planning and construction of low-energy houses is introduced and its correspondence to energy passports and building certification methods discussed. Chapter 3 examines the differences and parallels between the ecological assessment of location, business, process and product.show moreshow less
