August 1986, dem Jahrestag der Bombardierung Hiroshimas, vor einer Versammlung von Politikern, Intellektuellen und Umweltaktivisten gehalten hat. Die hier so dramatisch geschilderte Vorstellung, einem Atomkrieg würde eine neue Eiszeit, ein so genannter 'nuklearer Winter' folgen, war erst drei Jahre zuvor von einer Gruppe von Wissenschaftlern um den Klimaforscher Richard Turco und dem Astronomen Carl Sagan der Öffentlichkeit vorgestellt worden. ...show moreshow less
