N2 - The aim of the projekt is to determine the influence of Otto Hetzer of the development of laminated wood constructions. The first buildings with laminated wood constructions in the time until 1918 are presented comprehesively. The research is based mainly on contemporary publications and still existing buildings having been investigated in situ and dokumnented by the author. Karl Frierich Otto Hetzer brought laminated wood constructions to their industrial height by using casein glue. After the development of roofconstructions and type buildings he made the technical breakthrough 1910 at the world exhibition in Brussls. With the exhibitions Hall of the Deutsche Reichsbahn presenting a span of 43 meters, he set a new standard. With foowing arched halls it became possible to extend the spans to more than 100 meters. Especially the development of domed halls with three dimensional multi component systems and tetrahedron constructions should be mentioned. These constructions enable an ideal structure system mainly under tension.
