His authored books include Surface and Depth (2002); Performing Live (2000); Practicing Philosophy: Pragmatism and the Philosophical Life (1997); Sous l'interpr{\´e}tation (1994), Pragmatist Aesthetics: Living Beauty, Rethinking Art (1992, 2nd edition 2000); T.S. Eliot and the Philosophy of Criticism (1988); and The Object of Criticism (1984). His most recent book, Body Consciousness: A Philosophy of Mindfulness and Somaesthetics was published by Cambridge University Press. It provides the most detailed formulation of his project of somaesthetics.},

  abstract  = {Forscher prognostizieren in den kommenden Jahren eine Klimaerw{\"a}rmung bis zu 6 ° C. Aus diesem Grund wurde das EU - Forschungsprojekt „ Climate for Culture" ins Leben gerufen, um Auswirkungen dieses Klimawandels auf denkmalgesch{\"u}tzte, kulturhistorische Geb{\"a}ude zu untersuchen. Ziel ist es, entsprechende Schutzmaßnahmen in konservatorischer Hinsicht zu erarbeiten. Aufgrund des Zusammenhanges zwischen Temperatur und Luftfeuchte f{\"u}hrt diese Klimaerw{\"a}rmung auch zu einer {\"A}nderung des Feuchtehaushaltes im Außenbereich und, bedingt durch einen immer vorhandenen Luftwechsel, schließlich auch im Innenbereich von Geb{\"a}uden. Die F{\"a}higkeit eines Geb{\"a}udes, durch seine Beschaffenheit auf Feuchteeinfl{\"u}sse zu reagieren, wird maßgeblich bestimmt durch seine M{\"o}glichkeit, in der Geb{\"a}udeh{\"u}lle und der vorhandenen Einrichtung anfallende Feuchte zwischenzuspeichern und diese zeitversetzt wieder an die Umgebung abzugeben. Diese F{\"a}higkeit sorptiver Fl{\"a}chen zur Feuchtepufferung konnte bislang nur mit erheblichem Aufwand ermittelt werden. In der vorliegenden Arbeit wird versucht, durch einfachere Methoden mittels hygrothermischer Simulation einen „Zweizahlwert" zu erhalten, mit dem sich diese Raumkompetenz schnell und nachvollziehbar darstellen l{\"a}sst.},

  abstract  = {Lara Schrijver is an assistant professor at the Faculty of Architecture of the TU Delft. She is one of three program leaders for a new research program in the department of architecture, 'The Architectural Project and its Foundations'. Schrijver holds degrees in architecture from Princeton University and the TU Delft. She received her Ph.D. from the TU Eindhoven in 2005. Schrijver has taught design and theory courses, and contributed to conferences in the Netherlands as well as abroad. She was an editor for OASE, journal for architecture, for ten years, and was co-organizer of the 2006 conference 'The Projective Landscape'. Her current work revolves around the role of architecture in the city, and its responsibility in defining the public domain. Her first book, Radical Games, on the influence of the 1960s on contemporary discourse, is forthcoming in the spring of 2009.},

Soll dieser Vorgang nicht allein, sondern r{\"a}umlich verteilt mit mehreren Beteiligten gemeinsam stattfinden, so sind digitale Werkzeuge zur Unterst{\"u}tzung dieses Prozesses unumg{\"a}nglich. Die Verwendung von Werkzeugen f{\"u}r Ent-wurfsprozesse bedeutet jedoch immer auch eine Manipulation des zu unterst{\"u}tzenden Prozesses selbst. Im Falle von Werkzeugen zur Unterst{\"u}tzung der Kollaboration mehrerer Beteiligter stellen die implementierten Koordinationsmechanismen solche prozessbeeinflussenden Faktoren dar. Damit diese Mechanismen, entsprechend der Charakteristika kreativer Prozesse, so flexibel wie m{\"o}glich gestaltet werden k{\"o}nnen, liegt die Anforderung auf technischer Ebene darin, ein geeignetes Konzept f{\"u}r eine nachvollziehbare Speicherung (Versionierung) der stattfindenden Entwurfshandlungen zu schaffen. Der vorliegende Artikel besch{\"a}ftigt sich mit dem Thema der Entwurfsversionierung in computergest{\"u}tzten kollaborativen Arbeitsumgebungen. Vor dem Hintergrund, dass die Versionierung den kreativen Entwurfsprozess m{\"o}glichst wenig manipulieren soll, werden technische sowie konzeptionelle Probleme der diskutiert und L{\"o}sungsans{\"a}tze f{\"u}r diese vorgestellt.},

Sie war von 1996-1999 Redakteurin der Zeitschrift Daidalos und ist Mitherausgeberin des Buches „Architektur in Berlin" (Berlin 1999). Sie war wissenschaftliche Kuratorin und Mitarbeiterin der Ausstellung „Stadt der Architektur. Architektur der Stadt", die im Jahr 2000 im Neuen Museum in Berlin zu sehen war.   abstract  = {Patients and staff in hospitals are exposed to a complex sound environment with rather high noise levels. In intensive care units, the main noise sources are hospital staff on duty and medical equipment, which generates both operating noise and acoustic alarms. Although noise in most cases is produced during activities for the purpose of saving life, noise can induce significant changes in the depth and quality of sleep and negatively affect health in general. Results of a survey of hospital staff are presented as well as measurements in two German hospital wards: a standard two-bed room and a special Intermediate Care Unit (IMC-Unit), each in a different Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Sound pressure data were collected over a 48 hour period and converted into different levels (LAFeq, LAFmax, LAFmin, LAF 5\%), as well as a rating level LAr, which is used to take tonality and impulsiveness into account. An analysis of the survey and the measured data, together with a comparison of thresholds of national and international regulations and standards describe the acoustic situation and its likely noise effects on staff and patients.},

He worked then as a curator of the gallery "Laden V-17" in Berlin.
